The health and regular use of one's insular cortex plays a vital role in their E.R.M. experience and ability.

Endorphin Response Manipulation, also known as E.R.M., or E.R.M.ing in action, is slowly emerging in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains and surrounding areas. As the Indian Summer pulls a strong north wind across dusty hillsides of Mt. Ashland and Grizzly Peak a handful of outdoor minded folks are reaping the rewards of a late spring mojo pollination. Sensationalists would call them explorers, others would call them students, and some flat out refuse to believe. Regardless, these E.R.M.ers are charting their own course of space and time via neural autobahns.
A beautiful, blissful state that, ironically, is reached through a healthy dose of self-induced physical pain, E.R.M. is a sort of neurological master key, which, when used, integrates one’s entire being with every molecule surrounding.
Below is a short video clip, (which I’m sure some of my colleagues will recognize) repeated in slowing speeds, to serve as a visual metaphor for the moment when mojo becomes catalyst to the symbiosis between body and mind, fueled by a heightened use of the respiratory system.
E.R.M. has existed for thousands of years, spawning salmon fight the cold rushing current for days on end without rest to reach their spawning grounds, delicate feather-weight monarch butterflies migrate thousands of miles, nature in every form, from the vibrating state of a molecule of adenosine triphosphate to the luminous lunar curve above, all assume E.R.M. as a natural state of being. Albatrosses, known for their trans-ocean flights, are so well adapted to this E.R.M. lifestyle that their heart rates while flying are close to their basal heart rate when resting. This efficiency is such that the most energetically demanding aspect of their trip is not the distance covered, but the landings and take-offs.
My friends, it is likely you have already inhaled the fragrant scent, sipped from the cool rushing stream, so run with it, ride with it, scream with it, sing with it, and find, “the compression of all being into one pure point”, where your insular cortex is flooded with the positive sensations of, ‘total power to the everything’.

Alex,
Great story- congratulations on your efforts and all the fun you had.
Sounds like fun was had by all, except for maybe the pin through the skin moment.
Thanks for sharing your day.
Love, Dad
